Our plans to visit non-reserve sites have been thwarted by the Foot & Mouth Epidemic and we have cancelled proposed spring and early summer meetings. We hope that the two following field meetings will be held. Recorders of all groups at whatever level of expertise welcome.
Saturday 21st July 2001. Meet at 10 pm. by B4197 running N
from Martley at Hillside, grid ref SO755615.
This WWT reserve is an excellent Silurian Limestone Grassland
well-recorded for butterflies and plants but less so for other
species. We also expect to visit the adjacent land-filled and
capped Penny Hill Quarry which is developing an interesting fauna
and flora.
Saturday 1st September 2001. Meet at 10 am at the Blackstone
Car Park grid ref SO796743 which is by the A456 just S of Bewdley
near the by-pass roundabout. We will probably walk up to the
reserve.
This is a major Worcestershire heathland.
